Domain

In order to deploy your product to the cloud, you need to have a domain. If you don't have one you need to register it with a domain provider of your choice (Amazon, Google, Namecheap, GoDaddy, and more...).

After that you need decide:

  • how you want your product to be accessed
  • how you want us to manage your domain

Access

In most scenarios, your application can be accessed in the following ways:

  • using subdomains (e.g. app1.example.com, app2.example.com, etc.)
  • using a root domain (e.g. example.com)

Sometimes a combination of both: landing page on the root domain and the application on a subdomain etc.

Select your domain for your product

  • Let us know your preference and we will help you set it up.
  • If you are not sure, we can help you with the branding
  • If you are not ready now we can use our development domain for the time being and switch to your domain later.

Management

Domain management usually happens at the beginning of the project and is not a frequent task, however it is important to do it right to avoid risks of loosing access to your product or emails delivery issues with your custom domain.

Since the domain management happens at your domain provider, you can choose to:

  • manage the domain yourself - we will provide you with the necessary DNS records on every stage of the deployment
  • delegate the full or partial domain management to the cloud - we will manage the domain for you (recommended)

Managing the domain yourself is a technical task and requires some knowledge about how DNS works, sometimes due to your organization policies that's the only option.

We recommend delegating the domain management to us, as we have the necessary knowledge and experience to manage your domain in the cloud. This allows us for various optimizations and automation that save time and reduce the risk of human errors.

Always consult the team about the domain changes, as it may affect your business.

When you already have a domain, please consult with us, we will evaluate the current setup and provide you with the necessary steps to migrate the domain management to the cloud.
